More on that soon, keep an eye out.
My biggest takeaway this week: Doubt Kills More Dreams Than Failure Ever Will
This week, I came across an amazing quote that really got me thinking. “Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.” So often in life, we assume that success is literally a straight line. If there is even the slightest hint of resistance or roadblocks, then it must not be for us. This, my friend, is what we have to overcome.
Listen, I’ve made this mistake countless times as well. I am far from perfect and more flawed than you could ever imagine! But there is one thing I do know, the road to success is filled with setbacks and failures. As Richard Branson eloquently puts it, “There’s only one thing that is an absolute certainty in business – we all make mistakes”. But if you choose to view your mistakes and failures as learning opportunities, you are one step closer to achieving your goal.
Let’s take basketball as an example. If I told you a player had the following stats, what goes through your mind?
- Lost more than 300 games during his NBA career.
- Missed over 9,000 shots at goal
- Missed 26 game-winning shots
- Ranked 155 for field goal percentage
You would probably write this guy off as a failure.
But guess what, these facts belong to Michael Jordan, one of the greatest basketball players of all time.
Jordan embodies the idea of learning from our mistakes and failures, as he so eloquently said the reason for his success boils down to constantly using failure as a motivation to shoot for success.
As marketers and entrepreneurs, we have to always remember, if you have yet to fail, you my friend, have yet to start living.
Now it’s your turn! What do you want to be known as the Michael Jordan of? Challenge your doubts and take action. If there is one thing that I can guarantee, it’s that you will stumble, you will fall, you will fail, and you will cry and stress over why it’s not working. But in the end, by choosing to learn from your mistakes and build your tenacity muscle, you will become one of the greats.
Time to level up!
