A Confused Mind Will Always Say No

Hey!

Hope everyone is doing well. Welcome to the next round of the Sunan Weekly Roundup!

What we are working on:

This week we released another great blog post titled “The Power of Color in Design” There are only a few things in the design that are more powerful or subjective than the use of color. When used correctly, colors can evoke powerful emotions and feelings in the viewer – sometimes the same color can have different effects on different people.

In design, color theory is not only a science and art in itself but one of the most paramount tools in a designer’s arsenal.

Knowing how a specific color will affect people is quite a valuable skill to master for both new and experienced graphic designers as well as business owners and marketers. Check out the article to learn more about how you can use color to level up your marketing game.

My biggest takeaway this week: A Confused Mind Will Always Say No

One of the fundamental rules of marketing is that ‘a confused mind will always say no’. Sounds very simple but you would be amazed at the number of businesses that make this simple mistake.

One of the main reasons why businesses continue to make this mistake is because they do not apply this fundamental principle to everything they create.

Let’s take websites as an example. Most websites have so many menu options and literally tons of CTAs that are pointing you to hundreds of different pages within their site. Rather, if we truly followed this principle, we would be creating simple landing pages that had one call to action.

Let’s take social media graphics as our next example. One of the amazing things about social media is that we can literally create unlimited numbers of graphics and push them out! Where on the other hand a website is relatively set in stone. Yet, it’s amazing to see how many designs out there try to jam in so much information and CTAs into a simple graphic. Remember, a confused mind will always say no. Create a stream of designs that go out multiple times a day that communicate information clearly and drive your audience towards a single and unified CTA.

Always remember, this fundamental principle should be applied to everything we create – from videos, sales letters, and brochures to websites and social media graphics!

Now it’s your turn. Take a step back and critically analyze what you are producing. When our target audience comes across our video, social media graphic, or sales copy, are we going to confuse them by pointing them to all the different products and services that we offer? If so, it’s time to truly embody this basic principle. By making these very simple tweaks, you can start moving that needle in the right direction.

Time to level up!
