The Power of Evergreen Content

Author: Taha Malik

Hey!

I hope everyone is doing well. Welcome to the next round of the Sunan Weekly Roundup!

What we are working on:

This week we released another relevant blog post titled “Don’t Build Your Website Until” you do these 5 things! Your website is the center of your online presence; everything – from your social media to your advertisements – should come back full circle and link back to your site.

Why is this so?

Well, just like brick-and-mortar outlets, your website is your online presence. It’s the place where most of your customers will end up and form an opinion about your business. Because opinions are formed based on your website, your website needs to be the best version and representation of your business. In short, it needs to be killer.

What makes for a fantastic website? Check out these five tips to learn more. I cannot stress the importance of step #3 – having a digital marketing roadmap in place.

My biggest takeaway this week: The Power of Evergreen Content

What is evergreen content and why is it important? Simply put, evergreen content is a piece of content that retains its relevance months and even years after its been published. As you can imagine, evergreen content can serve as a tremendous way to drive traffic and create awareness around your brand.

So what makes content become evergreen? Great question.

Evergreen content is content that is relatively timeless in nature. For example, an article titled “5 Proven Strategies for Generating Wealth” is timeless. More importantly, if the content refers to timeless fundamentals such as investing in long-term ETFs, contributing to Roth IRA accounts, and reinvesting dividend earnings, this article would still be relevant 5 or even 10 years from now.

Here are 5 reasons you should create evergreen content:

  1. Continuously drive leads to your sales funnels
  2. Continuously drive traffic to your website
  3. Continuously drive traffic to your social media channels
  4. Continuously improve search engine rankings
  5. Better position your brand as an industry leader

Here is another example. Back in December 2019, we published The Power of Circular Viralocity article which even today, brings in a lot of traffic compared to our non-evergreen articles.

Creating evergreen content is instrumental in generating compounding traffic.

You can take this to the next level and even create evergreen marketing strategies as well! Let’s use the same “5 Proven Strategies for Generating Wealth” as our example. Now, rather than a traditional blog post, you turn this into a comprehensive guide (which includes tips, action items, affiliate links, etc…). Now in order for someone to get their free copy, they have to provide you their name and email.

Now in order to make the backend evergreen as well, you can enter the lead into an automated drip email nurture sequence that spans over 30 – 60 days where you continue to provide them value and drive them to your offer page where you sell your service. You can take it a step further and run social media lifetime campaigns and continuously keep driving visits and sales year-round.

Now it’s your turn! Take a look at your content marketing strategy and leverage the power of evergreen content.

Time to level up!
